This is an introductory course to structural analysis techniques which is basis of almost all commercial structural analysis programs

Description

Pipe racks are structures in petrochemical, chemical and power plants that are designed to support pipes, power cables and instrument cable trays. This course covers general design philosophy and requirements to be used in the analysis and design of pipe racks. Criteria presented in the course pertain to loads, load combinations, allowable stresses, and superstructure and foundation design. All necessary structural calculation procedures related to pipe racks are detailly explained.

Learning objectives

Students will be able to model, analyze and design the Pipe Rack in commercially available structural analysis software (either STAAD.Pro or SAP2000). They will be able to understand how the steel structures are designed.

Target group

Structural engineers performing structural analysis using various analysis programs.

Duration

8 classes (4 weeks)

Prerequisite

Knowledge of STAAD Pro or SAP2000 is required. Basic knowledge of pipe racks is necessary.
