This is an introductory course to oil and gas industry mechanical engineering
Description
Oil & gas mechanical engineering is mainly composed of two fields, namely static (piping, pressure vessels and heat exchangers) and rotating (compressors and pumps) equipment. Since the majority of mechanical equipment found in oil and gas facilities belongs to the static equipment group, this course will be mainly concentrating on the static equipment with some emphasize on the rotating equipment. The guidelines containing cost-effective recommendations for their design, materials, and fabrication will be explained to the attendees.
Learning objectives
Students will be able to define the basic operational requirements for static and rotating equipment. They will have the knowledge of conceptual design and code requirement for design of various equipment.
Target group
Structural engineers performing structural analysis using various analysis programs.
Duration
8 classes (4 weeks)
